Jut Sau

Jut Sau is short sharp deflecting technique used in Wing Chun to deal with punches. Jut Sau is similar to a Pak Sau only it uses the inside of the wrist instead of the palm to deflect, The elbow must be kept lower than the wrist in order for Jut Sau to work.

In the Forms:
Sil Lim Tao Chum Kiu, Biu Gee and the wooden dummy form.

Applications of Jut Sau
In Chi Sau

As a cover
Jut Sau can be used to deflect punches off of the centreline. It is useful for mid level to head high straight punches like a boxing jab. It can also through an opponent off balance if they are tense during or after punching. A common mistake when using Jut Sau is to lift the elbow meaning the attack slides under the practitioners defence. Jut Sau is extremely effective when combined with a Fak Sau style strike or another Biu Sau block if dealing with a "one two" style attack.
It is possibly the most effective defensive measure against the Chain Punch.
