  1. What time are the lessons?
From 7.00 to 8.30pm. Tuesday night at the Ely Beet Sports and Social Club.
  1. Do I need to be fit?
No you will get fitter as you train.
  1. What do I wear?
A t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms will do, otherwise any sort of loose clothing will be fine with trainers.
  1. What style of Wing Chun do you do?
We Study Foshan style Wing Chun, this is the style Ip Man taught in Foshan before his move to Hong Kong.
  1. Will I get hurt?
Doubtfull, Wing Chun has a series of practice techniques designed to teach the basic elements that do not require hurting people.
  1. Is it good for Self Defence?
Self defence is subject that covers more than any martial art, such as being aware of your location and environment, analysing threats, a good book on this subject is "Dead or Alive" by Geoff Thompson.

However in the event that physical conflict does occur Wing Chun will give you the skills to attack and defend, should you ever be forced to.
  1. What Age do I need to be?
15+.
  1. Where can I find out more information regarding Wing Chun
For less formal information, the story of Ip Man can be see in the Ip Man films, otherwise a variety of books and DVD's can be found on amazon, however please be aware the styles may be slightly differant than our style, but the core elements of the art should be the same.
  1. Class rules
    • Students must listen to and follow the instructions of the class Coach.
    • Students must ensure fingernails are trimmed. Students must wear clean, appropriate clothing to classes.
    • Students must never use Wing Chun, except in emergencies or for self protection.
    • Students should show respect to each other, themselves and the class coach.
    • Students must not drink alcohol or take drugs (including performance enhancing drugs) before or during classes.Can Anyone Join?More or less yes. We only ask that students must be 14 or over (or have parental consent).
    • Students will also have to fill out basic questionnaire. This is only to cover legal and medical responsibilities and to get an idea of what the students goals are. Students who have very serious medical conditions that would effect their safety may be asked to consult a doctor before being allowed to train.
    • Anyone with or without previous experience in Wing Chun or any martial art is welcome to train
